It’s August!!!

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Okay…so it’s been August for awhile.  Not exactly ground breaking… But DC in August is heavenly.  It may be just another month to most of you, but when you live in DC, August means one thing.

And recess means all the politicians go home.  And America gets mad because they think they’re not working.  But when all the politicians go home, the phones stop ringing.  Traffic dies down.  Tourists go home.  But best of all it means…

While everyone else posts their back to school pictures, the DC nation gleefully escapes this ghost town.  I have been ruefully scrolling past your beach pictures all summer.  It’s finally my turn!

So after kicking off August recess right…

Then we turned up our AC, took out the trash, and hit the road for a 10 day respite in the Lowcountry.  With every road trip, I keep thinking our semi-mobile little munchkin will start fighting her car seat, but she’s still a trooper!  We got up early, beat traffic, and arrived in Savannah by lunchtime.

Just in time to celebrate my birthday!

…my THIRTYITH birthday…

We celebrated at Perch, the rooftop bar of Local 11… It was so good and so fun!

I introduced Tyler to a new Georgia something… St. Simon’s Island…

The whole family was there and it was Charlotte’s first real trip to the beach…

image-11Stopped here on our way out of town where I chased boys and threw water balloons and came to know Jesus.  Serious summer camp nostalgia…

And then celebrated our sixth anniversary with some ridiculous food and free baby-sitting…

For now, I am thrilled to soak up every minute with this handsome fella… He has been working SO hard since opening a Congressional office in January.  He took THREE DAYS off when Charlotte was born. Three days.  So we’re taking in every kiss, snuggle, bedtime, bottle, and lazy morning with our favorite guy…
