Christmas Tour of Homes 2012

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

It is crazy to think we have lived in our new place for more than two months now!  While our home is certainly more than just “liveable," we still seem to be settling in a bit.  The basement still needs to be set up to receive visitors next month {NEXT MONTH!!}, there is more furniture to buy, and 100% of the closets need to be re-organized.  And then there’s that whole BABY thing going on…

But it wouldn’t be Christmas to me without trees and lights and ornaments {though it’s so much more than that, I know}.  So even though I took the season off from hosting parties or cookie swaps, I still wanted to get the place decorated a little bit {I just looked back at my 2011 Christmas tour and got a little sad—everything was so much prettier and put together!}.  Because we’re still settling in, I really only set up the living room on the main floor, but it is just enough to contribute to my turn-off-all-the-lights-and-watch-Hallmark-movies habit and just what I needed to come home to this last crazy month.  I have to remind myself that if I’d done any more, I’d stress myself out to the point of defeating the purpose of the season…

So take a look around!  Here are the touches of the season scattered squished throughout the house…

DSC_0615The tree sits right at the bottom of the stairs—the lights are on a timer and it is so nice to come down the stairs every morning to the lit tree…

DSC_0611I love the juxtaposition of the mercury glass & satin ribbon with the pine cones & twine… These hang in the large picture window that overlooks the backyard.

photo 1I bought this wreath from Ballard Backroom last year on clearance.  It is HUGE and I love it.

Front{A very doctored picture of our front door… I may or may not have decorated that garland teetering eight months pregnant on a step stool while my husband was out of town… Wise? Perhaps not.  But it looks good, I think!}

This year’s tour of homes snuck up on me {says the girl who ordered her Christmas cards last night}!  But this is my favorite link up of the year—I can’t wait to go see all of yours!  Thanks for stopping by!
