Happy Thanksgiving!

Hopefully You'll not read this today because you're all among friends and family but I couldn't let the day pass without acknowledging my thanks and gratitude for the blessings in our life. It's been quite a year and we have much to be thankful for.

It was on this week last year that Tyler's former company cut half of their employees, Tyler being one of them. It was four days before Thanksgiving, four weeks from Christmas, and we'd been a dual income family for about two seconds. I'd just started a new job and my salary was barely covering my hefty student loan payments. Facing unemployment in these times was difficult and unexpected. And facing them during the holidays was a small nightmare.

But God provided as He always does (read the whole story here). Tyler was soon hired back on Capitol Hill and a few months ago was promoted to Chief of Staff-- he is too humble to ever share this but he's worked so hard, working his way up through the Hill, beginning as a college intern. I am so proud of him and thankful that God bestowed such a work ethic in him and that He provides these opportunities for us.

These days we are blessed with busyness. Work, traveling, and time with family and friends can be a bit overwhelming so while we miss our families, we relished the opportunity to spend the very long weekend here. We slept in this morning and watched the parade (anyone else see Newsies??), enjoyed dinner with friends this afternoon (and didn't have to cook a thing!), and are cozy on the couch this evening (where I am resisting the pull of anymore projects).

We are immensely blessed with our lives here in Washington and well aware that, just as we learned last year, it can all change in the blink of an eye. The Lord is the giver of every good and perfect gift and we relish and accept His blessings, in whatever form they may come.

"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty, and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is Yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; You are exalted as head over all.

Wealth and honor come from you; You are the ruler of all things. In Your hands is strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give You thanks and praise Your glorious name."
1 Chronicles 29:11-13.

I hope today finds you all warm and full of food and love. THANK YOU for reading. Happy Thanksgiving!
